What is Immune system?
Immune system is a combination of organs, tissues, cells and molecules whose primary function is to identify and kill the microorganisms, tumors and remove toxins to protect us against diseases.
It not only kills harmful microorganisms but also it stores the data of each one of them, In case if you encounter with same in future.
There are two main subsystems of immune system such as
1) Innate immune system
2) Adaptive immune system
Innate Immune System
This immune system includes cells which are non specific.
Hence it can not distinguish one invader with other invaders.
It reacts very quickly as soon as it locates infectious pathogens.
This immune system doesn’t have memory hence it treats same pathogens in exact same way irrespective of how many times that pathogen previously seen.
It includes chemical and physical barriers which acts like line of defense and also prevents infectious agents to enter in our system
Barriers Used are
Skin – sweat, desquamation, flushing and organic acids.
Gastrointestinal tract – Gastric acids, Bile acids, gut flora, digestive enzymes, peristalsis etc.
Respiratory – Mucociliary escalator, surfactant, defensins
Eyes – Tears
Blood–Brain – Endothelial cells, P-glycoprotein.
Adaptive Immune System
This immune system function is very specific towards each and every invaders.
It’s cells has receptors which differentiates every invaders with other invaders which are called as antigens.
Also these receptors can differentiate between friendly bacteria and potentially danger pathogens.
This immune system takes time to activate because it activates highly specific cells to kill particular pathogens.
The advantage of this immune system over innate immune system is that it has immunological memory.
The activated cells undergo clonal expansion in which they massively proliferate.
That means every time they see same invader, they again get quickly expanded to give stronger and faster response.
Once the pathogen is destroyed, Most of these clonally expanded cells get die off. It is called as clonal deletion.
Some of this cells lives as a memory cells, As in case same pathogen appears again. The cells can be expanded easily.
Both of these immune systems has humoral immunity and cell mediated immunity.

Signs of weak Immune system
There are various disorders in immune system, And each one has it’s unique symptoms that can be chronic or frequent.
Some common symptoms can include:
- Pink eye
- Sinus infections
- Yeast infections

This leads to optimal health and enhancement of function of immune system.
Also Omega-3s has ability to synthesize signal molecules which helps to lower cell stress response.
DHA and EPA helps your body to come to normal after the infectious threat is passed.
Also it is necessary to maintain the ratio of Omega-3s and Omega-6s.
You can online buy top quality Omega-3s from Amazon.
Probiotics are the live microorganisms, That when consumed in controlled manner. It Plays an important role in overall immune health.
It inhibits the growth of deadly pathogens by competing with them for nutrients which promotes growth and proliferation.
Probiotics have shown to enhance the barrier functions.
Probiotics supports the immune health by stimulating immune cells activity.

Vitamin D is very important for calcium absorption and bone health.
It can also modulate both innate and adaptive immune systems.
It stimulates production of antimicrobial peptides (AMP).
These peptides are helpful for lots of anti-microbial and anti-viral activities.
Deficiency of vitamin D increases autoimmunity and make you more susceptible to infections, colds and flu.
Due to lack of exposure to sun, using sun screens etc. lots of peoples found deficient in vitamin D.

Melatonin is the hormone produced by brain. It’s primary function is to facilitate sleep by communicating with body when it’s dark outside.
It stimulates innate immune cell activity. Hence it is known as immune boosting dietary factor.
During sleep, Your immune system releases cytokines molecules which sends other immune cells where infection is present to regulate it’s behaviour.
Also sleep deprivation can reduce the production of cytokines, T cells and antibodies which fights with infection.
